Same Set Syndrome July Hop Featuring Not 2 Shabby Stamps

Hello Scrapping For Tranquility friends!  if you are arriving from Jennifer Massores Hartsgrove's You Tube Channel, then you are in the right place. I am in a wonderful hop group and we are doing a 6 month collaboration called #SameSetSyndrome where every month we highlight small, independently owned stamp companies each month.  We as a group, want to introduce you to these companies that you may have never heard of or heard of but when you went to buy, they were not the first to come to mind.  We would like these wonderful companies TO BE THE ONES THAT COME TO MIND! Everyone in the hop get's a chance to work with a kit from the company for the month, one stamp set or possibly 2 stamp sets. Hence "same set syndrome".

Is there blog candy?  Of course there is!  You must visit, follow, leave a comment and watch all videos on all the hop's participants.  There will be one name per participant that will be chosen by random to be chosen for a $50.00 Gift Certificate, of your choice at the end of the 6 month collaboration. This winner will be announce  on December 10th on Allison Kulka's You Tube Page.  ALSO, this month Not 2 Shappy has donated a $25.00 Gift certificate to their store.  One random commentator from each hop stop will be put into a drawing and one out of those names will be drawn for this months prize.  Good Luck!

On to my project.  Not 2 Shabby gave us the choice of 2 different stamp sets to choose from.  I chose the Pup In a Cup stamp set!  It was just too stinkin' cute not to!  I could think of a million ways I could color that pup!

When I decided to color him, I really thought my Nuvo Watercolor pencils would be fun to use so that is what I did. I used colors from the Hair & Skin Tones set, Dark Shadows Set & Elementary set.

My base of my card is the Crimson Red by American Crafts from 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop.  The 6 X 6 coffee ring paper is also American crafts but I can not remember the pad it came from.  The yellow is American Crafts Sunflower also from 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop.

I finished my card off with putting a couple of the sentiments together that came with the set.  I stamped it on Neenah Paper 110lb Classic Crest Cardstock 8.5"X11".  I made it into a banner shape and did something I have only done once before, I let it hang off the edge of the card to give it a flag feel.  Finishing it with a paw print, I made on my cameo 3, with Black Precision Cardstock from American Crafts also from 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop and adding enamel dots from  C. C. Designs.  I called it done!

I hope you enjoyed my card and your next stop is Charlotte's You tube and Charlotte's Blog.

Blessings!

Patriotic Tealight Candle Holder

Hello 12 X 12 Cardstock Fans!  This is Christi from Scrapping For Tranquility  I wanted to stop in a share a tutorial for some Patriotic, Tealight, Candle Holders I made for the 4th of July .  They were the center pieces, on my picnic tables, outside, and boy, they were a huge hit!

I got to thinking, if I had so many that liked them, at my party , maybe you all would like to see how I made them and tuck it away for your next patriotic holiday. I set out to make one more to to show you what I did.

First off, this is a lovely SVG, FREE file from Dreaming Tree.
Please stop by there and pick up your free file and thank Leo for another great file! Please take the time to sign up for their newsletter, it will let you know about all the new releases and contests. I just love all their files and buy a lot of them.  I truly appreciate the free files also and use them quite often.  You can get this one here: Patriotic Tealight .

Starting out, Cut out all your pieces either by hand or by electric cutting machine.  I used my Cameo 3.

I ink all my pieces to stand out a bit more.  My inks of choice is the Catherine Pooler inks.

Taking  American Crafts Crimson Red , shield pieces, glue the Glama Translucent Vellum to the back of the Crimson Red pieces.

Using the Bazzill- Metallic-Gold-Mirror-Foil shield outline, glue that on top of the crimson red shield.

Finishing the shields, glue the American Crafts Denim topper, over the the top of the stars.  Make sure to line it up with the stars on the red shield.

Starting the base, using the large crimson red piece, fold up and in towards the center, on the dotted score lines. Starting on the NON-hinged side, glue one tab to the next row, hold till glue is dry.

Do the same with the next tab as you did with the previous tab.

Move to the back where the hinge is and glue the tabs the same way way as the front.

Once you have your tabs glued , make sure to fold in at the crease and generously apply glue to all top tabs.  You then want to lay the top flap down onto the 3 glued tabs starting from the hinged side, which should be squared, slowly working your way to the non-hinged side making sure everything squares up.

We then want to put our four shields we built onto the blue base, we put together.  Lay the base flat as shown above. Put glue on the back of the shield avoiding the vellum areas that you see through.

Line the point of the shield with the point of the blue base and carefully glue shield down.  Repeat this three more times.

Putting glue on the back of your extra plain square.  You will be putting this inside the candle holder for extra support and as the bottom of the candle holder.

You can use your fingers or anything that won't ruin your cardstock, I use a ruler to help hold this down in the bottom and gently burnish it to the bottom of the holder.

I then put glue on the bottom of my blue base holder so I can gently  glue it to my red base that we made earlier.  Eyeing it very carefully to make sure I have it even on all sides.  Again, you can use your fingers or a ruler or anything that would gently help you hold these together and burnish them till they are dry and held together.

Here is your finished candle holder.  They make lovely center pieces.

This is how beautiful they glowed in the evening time.  Like I said, they were a HHHHUUUGGGEEE hit at my gathering of my family and few friends.
Remote Included Darice White/Silver 9 Pieces Battery-Operated LED ...
These are the kind of candles I used inside .  Just small flame less, battery operated  candles.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and please visit 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop for all your Cardstock needs .

Please, Don't forget to stop by Dreaming Tree for the best 3D cut files around!  They offer a lot of freebies for all cutting machines and even for fussy cutting!

What Inkspires You?

I have been asked over the last 25 years why I started to scrapbook and that is such an easy question for me, to leave my family all my wonderful memories of them.

It isn't as easy when someone ask me "Why did you start to make cards?" or better yet..."what was your inspiration?"  There was a lot of reasons really.  First off, just the pure joy of working with paper, like scrapbooking, but making something I could immediately share with someone else, to make them smile.

Then one afternoon, I was looking up a scrapbooking technique on youtube and came across the Triple Time Stamping Tutorial for making cards and it caught my eye.  I really loved it and watched the whole video.  I was hooked!  I wanted to make something like that!

I would like to say I saved or even took a photo of that first card I made but I didn't.  But I used a beautiful rose and leaves as my stamp and used 2 different colors.  I thought it was the most gorgeous thing ever!!!  LOL  I am sure it was secretly awful!  LOL.  I couldn't wait to give it to someone and that someone was my mother.  I was sooo proud to hand it to her and believe you me, she brought me down off my cloud 9 by opening it and looking at it.  When she finished she just laid it to the side and never said a word.

Fast forward a couple years I decided to try the technique again for a contest and I won the contest with my card.  hahaha. I came home and kept trying.  It made me even more determined to be able to make beautiful cards.

Today, I am showing you another Triple Time Stamping card but this is for my best friend from birth.  We can go years and not see each other and pick up like we haven't missed a beat.  This sentiment by The Stamps of Life,Flip Flops 2, fits us perfect!

The Flip Flops is a stamp from the Scrapping For Less' June 2018 Flavor of the Month/Banana Split.  The stamp set is At the Beach by Scrapping for Less.

Recently, I became the owner of the new Catherine Pooler Inks.  I found this wonderful ,little, family-based, craft store that sells them a bit cheaper, called Del Bello's Designs.  They are the bomb!  I used the Midnight, Twilight, Juniper Mist, Limoncello and All That Jazz to do my stamping with.  Patty, the owner, is such a helpful, caring ,person and REALLY knows her Lavinia Stamps like the back of her hand!  LOL

I topped it off with sequins from another one of my Scrapping for Less Flavor of the Month Kits and called it a day.

I hope you enjoyed my card and how I started making cards.  I truly hope it inspires you to never give up even if you have a few you don't care for a long the way.
