Princess Crowns

Hello everyone!  Christi here from Scrapping for Tranquility.

Have you ever heard the saying "a little is a lot"?  That is what I have here today.  I knew I wanted to make something for my Granddaughter-by-proxy's time capsule but wasn't quite sure what.  I knew I wanted some flowers and a cut file of some kind but I didn't want them to over take the page.  Here is what I came up with.

I am sorry if it is hard to read, Pictures did not do it justice.  I used Mirri Pearl White Holographic Cardstock from 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop for the white/silvery letters  and Pink Sapphire Mirri Sparkle Glitter Paper for the other letters.  We were looking for a rose gold effect and the Pink Sapphire was very similar.

The words meant more to her mom and I than the decorations but we wanted to convey she was a girly girl princess for her first birthday's theme is all about  princess'.  That is where these AWESOME Crowns come in!  I used the Prince & Princess Crowns by Printable Cuttable Creatables.  

I sized the one at the bottom on my sure cuts a lot and Cameo 3 to a 2 1/2" wide.  It's a nice size crown.

Then downsizing to a 1 1/2" I made the second one which it isn't a lot smaller but it sure appears to be.  HAHA.

I added some Cherry Blossom flowers by Jolee's and called it finished.

Another Fun Fold-Twisted Easel Card for Printable Cuttable Creatables

 Hello!  Christi here from Scrapping For Tranquility on the blog for Printable Cuttable Creatables today to show you another Fun Fold Card.  These seem to be all the rage right now.  At the beginning of the month I showed you three fun Folds and promised I would be back today to give you a tutorial on a fourth.  We are going to do a fairly easy one so you can hop right to starting your Fun folds!

This one is a Twisted Easel Card.  With only a few steps we will master it today on the blog!  

Here is what you will need:

1.  A solid base color (my white) cut to 8 1/2 X 4 1/4 and score it at 4 1/4 on the 8 1/2 side.

I will look like this when you are done scoring and folding.

2.  You will also need a piece of 4"  squared pattern paper and another 4" squared pattern paper cut from one corner to the next diagonal.

3.  Score from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner on the left side of the card base. Like shown above.

4.  Using the pattern paper's piece of 4" squared , glue it to the inside of the card.

5.  Take a diagonal piece of pattern paper on the front facing part of the fold.

Here is where I make my paper Piecings I want to use to decorate the card with.  I cut out on my Cameo 3  two different files.

The files I used from Printable Cuttable Creatables are:

       2.St. Patrick's Day Shamrocks

One I had my pieces cut out, I ink my pieces.  That is a preference of mine.  You can do whatever you want.  Some people ink and others do not.

I use only Catherine Pooler Mini Inks and Full size ink pads.

Once I had my card and pieces made and inked, I was ready to assemble my card as I see fit.  This is the front of the card laying flat to mail.

This is my finished product with the twisted easel standing up being held by the title.  I used pop dots to make the title stand a bit to help hold it in the standing position.

Wicked-ly Cute with Printable Cuttable Creatables

Hello Printable Cuttable Creatables fans and Scrapping For Tranquility Fans!  I want to share with you a fun and Wickedly Cute layout I did for my granddaughters 9 month old photos.  Her mother is about all things Halloween and fall.  In fact my granddaughter's name is Oktober!  Teehee.  Here is my layout:

Now, to step back a little, I talked about last month about chatting with you and adding pattern paper to your layouts.    Here is a prime example.

I looked at my photos and decided on the colors I was using for my paper piecings and my background paper.  Once I had my background paper chosen, I pick anywhere from 2 to 3 other solids in case I want to make mats or need them for highlights as in edging ect.  That will be my color pallet.  Here I chose Green, Purple and orange.  Once I had that main color pallet in my solids I pick one or 2 pattern papers in that color family.  Most of the time only one pattern paper will do but I always choose 2 just in case.

That is when I start playing with my cardstock and pictures to decide my layout and how I want it.  My layout above is a fall back layout I use for a lot of my photos.  I start with a hilly ground (which it doesn't have to be green, use your imagination!)  Then I use my pattern cardstock to go up from the solid about 1 1/2 inches more.  A lot of the time my background paper is not a solid but a small print to set the layout off.  For Example, polka dots, flowers, ect.   This is a Beautiful purple shade from 12x12 Cardstock Shop.  The best place to get all your solid American Crafts and Bazzill cardstock. The top of the page for the "sky", I chose the polka dots that matched the stripes and the rest of my solids.  I really liked how my prints and solids worked together.

My Pieces I chose from Printable Cuttable Creatables was the Cute Witch and Friends Halloween SVG Set.  It is just darling.  I made everything in the set but 3 pumpkins.  I really thought it said everything I wanted it to say for my photos.

The Vampire bat and moon is just so realistic looking but cute at the same time along with the cat and cauldron.

Mr Cat could be made to look scary or just as cute as  can be.  I Love the bubbles and steam coming out of the pot!  Now how fun is that?

I just loved the spider and web and even if you are not a huge fan of spiders, she is so cute, you can't pass her up! 

 Now,  this little witch...... she is the most darling little witch I have ever seen!  Besides my granddaughter!  LOL

This title is so adorable and I could of thought of a million and one things to do with it.  I just liked the way it was and used it.

Father's Day Card

Hello 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop Fans!  Christi here from Scrapping For Tranquility! I am here today to share a tutorial on a Father's Day card I put together.  I hope you enjoy it and maybe you can gain some inspiration for that father figure in your life!  

Here is the finished card we are going to make today.  It is a pair of overalls with a flannel shirt.  Although you can use any pattern paper to make a shirt with.  This just reminded me of my dad.  When picking your shirt paper, keep your dad in mind and pick what will suit him.

I started with what I use for skin tones and that is the 12 x 12 American Crafts Latte. I LOVE Latte for skin tones for with the right ink, you can make it a light skin tone or a darker skin tone.  I personally use Colorbox, Chalk, ink, Cat-eyes,  Creamy Brown.  

Using a paper trimmer, cut your skin tone down to 7" X 10 " piece.

 Score on the 10" side at 5".  Now here is where a lot of folks make a mistake, they want to fold into the score valley.  That makes your card stock peel and tear, at the fold.  Instead, you want to score and fold TOWARDS the MOUNTAIN of the score and use your bone folder to burnish your score line down securely.

Cut a piece of Denim card stock or paper to 5" X 7" .This is the back side of my denim.

Cut 2, 1" wide by 4" long stripes for the straps of the overhauls and set aside for later.

Cut a rectangle for the pocket of the overhauls in the denim paper/card stock at 2 1/2 " X  3".  Set aside.

Using a self healing mat and any kind of sharp pick, (I use a quilling pick I bought from Hobby Lobby.) prick holes for faux stitching around the edges of the overhauls, pocket and straps.  I tried to keep my holes at around 1/8 " apart.   Using a deep blue or any color that matches your "fabric" paper , use a gel pen to dot the holes you made in the paper to highlight them.  To finish the stitching take a white gel pen and connect all the dots together like stitches.  (See pictures that follow.)

Back to the pocket, on the 2 1/2 " side cut the bottom 2 corners at an angle where you are cutting off triangles.  Make sure to use a ruler so these are straight. (please note the stitching in this photo.)  I found at this point, it was easiest to stamp my sentiment on the pocket.  I used Momento Luxe, Wedding Dress, White to stamp my sentiment for on the denim, it seemed to show up the best.

Cut a 31/4" X  5" piece of pattern card stock for a shirt. This here is a plaid from the Echo Park LumberJack Collection.  Make a small cut at 2 1/2 " from each side of the 5 " side.  This will be the neck of your shirt.  Fold the slits back into triangles.  

If the other side of your card stock is a different print than your shirt side, cut two triangles to fit the folds and glue them onto the slits as shown.

Glue shirt down with double sided tape, making sure to line the top of the shirt with the top of your skin base.

Tape down the overhauls making sure to line them up at the bottom of the skin tone base.  Add your pocket with a small amount of glue around the inside of the pocket making sure not to glue the top of the pocket closed.  This is where you want to also line up your straps from the corner of your overhauls top to each corner of the card.  Cut any excess off the straps that needs to be.  You can use large gold brads to set off the strap "buttons" or if you were like me and were out of large Gold brads, I used large sparkly gold dots for my buttons.

I made my screw driver , wrench and hammer from SVG files from Cuddly Cute Designs.  Glued them into the top of my pocket.  The cardstock colors I used for the tools I will list in my supply list. This is my completed card.

To celebrate this accomplishment,I am all about congratulations.  In honor of Christine I made a congratulations wedding card.  It is approaching summer and doesn't everyone at some point in the summer need a wedding card?  Here is what I made:

Starting with a piece of 6" X 12" of American Crafts Precision White Card Stock, from 12" X 12" Card Stock Shop, I scored it at 6" and made a 6" X 6" Card base.  Then taking a 5.75" X 5.75 " piece of American Crafts Vanilla Card Stock, I made this my first layer.

Using an SVG Cut file from Pazzels Craft Room, I made three different sizes of  stitched, scalloped hearts and layered them together.  

The top layer being the smallest of the hearts I used a sentiment I had, from a Card making magazine, I had bought years ago, on this heart. I pop-dotted it so it stood out just a bit.  Using a few Prima Flowers and some Rhinestones from Eyelet Outlet I had in my stash I finished the card up to my liking.

The Cutting Cafe -Lip Balm Holder

Hello Scrapping For Tranquility and Cutting Cafe Fans!  I hope you are having a very fun and blessed Cinco De' Mayo today!  It is my youngest daughter's, Larrisa's, birthday.  She turns 24 today.  Man, do I feel old!  lol  Anyhow, I want to share a special surprise I have for Larrisa not for her birthday but for her baby shower coming up in July.
Larrisa is having her 2nd and last baby boy in August and her shower is July 28th.  I wanted to make a thank you gift for everyone that is coming so when Regina asked us to make the lip balm holder this week I couldn't pass this up for my project.

I used the Lip Balm/Chapstick Holder from The Cutting Cafe.  There are several designs of this holder and I used the SCALLOP EDGE WITH A  PRE-PRINTED WRAP That Regina Easter made just for me when I told her my idea.

I used all American Crafts Cardstock from 12 X 12 Cardstock Shop.  My rattle SVG is from Little Scraps of Heaven and my Block SVG with my soon to be Grandson's initials are from Cuttable Designs.  I then used a ribbon from my stash and tied a bow and I called it done.  

I hope you really like my baby shower giveaways.  I have made quite a few of the 30 I have to make.  Then on to the next decoration  I been told to make!  HAHAHA!

February 2018 Guest Designer for Trendy Twine

Hello Scrapping for Tranquility Fans! Excited to be Guest designer for another term at Trendy Twine!

Today I want to share these adorable  Kraft Window Boxes and beautiful  Strawberry Cupcake Trendy Twine that are on special this month.

Here is what I did with them:

 First I took the  Kraft Window Box  and measured it and made an SVG to match out of it to cut my cardstock to cover the box.  Glued the  AC Crimson Cardstock from  12x12 Cardstock Shop ,on the box.  Wrapped the  Strawberry Cupcake Trendy Twine several times around the right side of the box and let it hang loose.  I glued a large heart shaped button onto the box and then a small heart shaped button on top of the large one.  Filled the box with Starburst candy.
I then made a tag in my Cameo 3 , putting a superhero burst to represent the burst in "starburst". cut out the  heart and lettering and glued them down and tied my pretty little  Strawberry Cupcake Trendy Twine  on my tag and called it done!  

I have made 3 more of these for my grandchildren for Valentine treats  and hope you can do the same.
